Southwest Credit Card Benefits

The best thing about this card is that you can pay ticket charges anytime by accessing your account from anywhere 24/7 services. With Southwest Airline credit card, you can earn point rewards and get an annual bonus after your cardmember anniversary. There is another bonus you can get when you receive the card - a sign-up bonus. This bonus varies and the current promo offer is 40,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first three months of opening your account. Another good thing about this card is that you are not charged foreign transaction fees for purchases made abroad. As for travel perks, frequent flyers will like the "bags fly free" feature that allows you to get your first and second checked bags for free.

Southwest Credit Card Drawbacks

There is no credit card without disadvantages. And one of the minuses that is common for co-branded airline credit cards is a high annual fee. The Southwest card comes with a $99 annual membership fee. Another drawback is that your earned points can actually expire. If you want to keep your points, you should make sure you fly with Southwest or make other activity that earns points every 24 months. The maximum amount of points you can earn per dollar spent is 2 pints. That is not a generous amount especially when you find out that these two points are given for Southwest purchases and for purchases with Rapid Rewards partners only.
