How do the different RushCard plans work?

There are three different plans to choose from when you apply for a Prepaid Visa Classic RushCard. When you fill out your application, you will be required to choose one. The monthly fees vary according to the activity and frequency of use. The plans are:

  • The Rush Unlimited Plan: Unlimited transactions each month for a fee of $7.95, or $5.95 if you have at least one direct deposit on your card each calendar month. ATM withdrawals cost $2.50 each.
  • The Pay Monthly Plan: Unlimited credit card-style purchases each month for a $9.95 fee, but if you use the card as a debit card and use your PIN, the charge is $1 each. The first two ATM withdrawals are free each month; after that they cost $2.50 each.
  • The Pay As You Go Plan: Pay no monthly fee, but each transaction costs $1, up to a maximum of $10 per month. ATM withdrawals cost $1.95 each.

The plan that is best for you will depend on how often you use the card, whether you will make frequent ATM withdrawals, and if you plan to get direct deposits to the account.



Why are there different start-up fees for the Prepaid Visa RushCard?

There is a minimum start-up fee of $3.95 for a basic RushCard, no matter which plan you choose. If you would like to carry the Black Diamond, Pink Diamond, Purple Diamond or DYNASTY card you will pay a one-time card fee of $9.95. The KLS and BabyPhat cards carry a $14.95 start-up fee.

How old do I have to be to get a Prepaid Visa RushCard?

You must be at least 13 years old to apply for a RushCard. However, if you are under the age of 18 your parent or guardian must fill out a consent form located here before you can get this card.

Why do I need to submit my Social Security number to apply for the RushCard?

All prepaid card applications require you to submit your Social Security number because of government regulations. You must also provide your birthdate, contact information, and possibly a driver’s license or other identification. If you do not feel comfortable providing this information online, you may call the RushCard customer service line at 866-RUSHCARD (866-787-4227) for assistance.

How long will it take my RushCard to arrive?

Your RushCard application will be approved and processed almost immediately once you have furnished accurate and complete information. It will take from 7 to 10 business days for your card to arrive in the mail. Your personalized card is generally mailed the same day your application is approved.

How do I add money to my RushCard?

Adding money to your RushCard is easy. You can add funds through any of the following:

  • Bank Transfer
  • Check or Money Order
  • Direct Deposit
  • Federal Benefits Direct Deposit
  • GreenDot MoneyPak
  • MoneyGram ExpressPayment
  • PayPal
  • Western Union

Although many prepaid cards charge a fee to reload your card, there is no charge for adding money to your RushCard, no matter which plan you are on. However, you should be aware that the service you use may charge a fee; for example MoneyGram charges $3.95 to load money onto a prepaid card.

Can I get my tax refund direct deposited onto my RushCard?

Yes, you can – and you will get it 2 to 4 weeks faster than you would by mail. All you need to do to set up the direct deposit of your tax refund to the RushCard, is your bank routing number, account number and account type.

When you set up direct deposit to the RushCard instead of a traditional bank account you will use the RushCard routing number (021409169) and your Deposit ID, a 16-digit number that stands in for a bank account number and is located on the front of your card. Can I change my plan type once I have signed up for the RushCard?

You can change your plan at any time and at no charge, to ensure you have the best plan to meet your needs. The Pick Your Plan Feature allows you to switch plans as often as you like. However, the change will not go into effect immediately. The change will be effective on the first day of the following month.

Can I get an additional card for a family member and make them an authorized use on my RushCard account?

No. Each user must have a unique RushCard account. However it is easy to apply for a RushCard and there is no reason your family members cannot have their own RushCards. In fact you can get $5 for each person who applies for a new account using your referral code – all the more reason to sign up family members and friends to get their own RushCard.

What if my card is lost or stolen? Is there any type of fraud protection on the RushCard?

If your RushCard is lost or stolen you should call Member Services at 866-RUSHCARD (866-787-4227) immediately to have the card cancelled. A new card will arrive in the mail within 7 to 10 business days.

Transactions that you sign for are protected by the Visa Zero Liability guarantee. PIN transactions are secure as long as no one else knows your PIN. Never write it down or share it with anyone.

Can I get any benefits or rewards with my Prepaid Visa Classic RushCard?

There are no cash back or travel rewards programs for this card. There is a Refer-A-Friend program that gives you $5 for each person who signs up for a RushCard using your personal referral ID. Get email invitations, website banners, referral cards and more to help get more people to sign up for the RushCard and you could earn hundreds of dollars per year or more.
